Congrats to my winner- Ashley!
A few weeks ago I wrote about PlanToys- the beautiful wooden toys that I always drool over when we visit a toy store. The nice people at PlanToys agreed to let us try out one of their toys in person, and we chose the PlanToys Plan City Airport, since my son is completely obsessed with airplanes.
We were so excited when we got home from an outing one day and saw the PlanToys box sitting at our front door! I put the box on the table, and Ethan couldn't stop staring at it. You know it's a great toy when it entertains your child before you even open it!
We opened the box and I set about putting it together. It does require assembly, but comes with good instructions that were easy to follow, even for someone like me, who is not terribly mechanically inclined. When I finished assembling the toy, I was very impressed at how sturdy everything was. That's very important for a kids' toy!
The Plan City airport is made for kids 3 and up, because it does have a few small parts. Ethan is under 3, so we only allow him to play with this on the table or somewhere else where we can clearly see him, both for his safety and to keep the small pieces away from our baby. If you have a child that is young enough to still be putting things in his/her mouth, then you should probably skip this toy for now. But it's a great one for the kids who are close to 3 and definitely for those 3 and up! PlanToys has lots of other, equally cool-looking toys for smaller toddlers, and also has a line of baby toys. PlanToys has so many great developmental and educational toys- you'll be amazed at all the options when you start browsing their site. There's a PlanToy for your kid, no matter what age or development they are at.
Ethan loves his airport- he spends endless amounts of time sitting in his chair and driving the airplane around the airport and up the ramps. The airport is two stories tall, with an airplane, a pilot, a luggage cart (with two suitcases), a check-in desk and an airport agent. Inside the airport there is an elevator and a luggage conveyor belt. Things that move are always fun to play with! Ethan plays pretty rough with his toys (he's a two-year-old boy, after all), but so far the airport is standing up well to his energetic playing!
The main drawback about this toy? My husband keeps wanting to play with it. He's always suggesting that we get out the airport for "Ethan to play with". But he's not fooling anyone.
PlanToys makes this airport and SO many other great options for kids of all ages. Visit here for a list of online retailers, or shop here at the PlanToys website, or go check out your local toy stores for more PlanToys. I've not been in a toystore lately that doesn't carry PlanToys. They're everywhere!
Guess what? One of you lucky readers is going to get to win this Plan City airport (ARV $100). Open to mailing addresses in the continental US only, please.
