Review: Your Shape!
I mentioned a few days ago that I had the chance to host a houseparty through Houseparty.com. The main part of the party was our time to test out a new Wii game, Your Shape! As you all know, I had a baby 7 months ago, and have spent a lot of time since then sitting around my house and being chubby, so I seriously needed a new motivation. This game is great!
This Wii game is different from some of the others that I have in that it's hooked up to a motion sensitive camera. So I didn't have to hold anything or stand on anything while I was working out. This was one of my pet peeves with the other fitness program I have for my Wii, so I really liked this. The motion sensing camera did a good job of picking up my actions on most of the exercises.
The game has a challenge option, but it also has yoga workouts, workouts to get you into bikini shape, and a mom workout with high intensity, 15-minute workouts. I know I should work out for a longer period of time, but my kids don't nap at the same time, so my exercise has to be in 20 minute increments or less, which makes this short workout option wonderful for me. The workout is pretty intense, so I feel like I've gotten some good exercise even during the shorter workouts.
You can use this workout without any extra equipment, but if you have things like an exercise ball or weights or a step bench, you can tell the workout that and it'll add it to the workout.
The only negatives that I've found are that the camera doesn't pick up my actions on some of the yoga moves or other moves in which I'm not facing the camera.
I'm so happy to have this game to help me get back into shape, especially during the rainy Seattle winter. If you have a Wii and are looking for a great fitness program, I highly recommend this one! Go here to learn even more about the game!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the Your Shape game to test out for myself, through my involvement at houseparty.com. I was not compensated in any other way and the opinions here are mine alone.
