Congrats to my winner: momtoem
Thanks to my involvement over at the Product Review Place, Ethan and I recently got to review a couple of fun products- a book/CD called Shushybye Sleepover Surprise, and a second CD called Close Your Eyes, by The Shushybye Dream Band.
We were not familiar with Shushybye prior to this review, so I went on the website to learn more about it. Here's some background from the site:
SHUSHYBYE is a preschool entertainment and lifestyle brand designed to inspire children to look forward to sleep time and help parents prepare their children for sleep in a fun and loving way that encourages imagination. Importantly, SHUSHYBYE helps create healthful sleep habits for toddlers and preschoolers.
There are a number of Shushybye products available including a TV show that can be seen on BabyFirstTV and Comcast On Demand, a DVD of the Shushybye Dream Band Live on Tour, toys, books, and music.
Ethan and I both really liked the book that we reviewed, Shushybye Sleepover Surprise. This is a fun book on its own, but it's even more fun than a regular book, since it comes along with a CD of the story being read- and 3 Shushybye tunes! I'm terrible at doing voices and sound effects when I'm reading to my kids, so it was nice to have that all done for me. I just put the CD in the player, sat on the couch with Ethan and we had fun turning the pages of the book and listening to the story being read to us. The 3 songs on the CD are catchy and fun too, so it was a great experience all around.
Including the songs, it only took about 10 minutes to read/listen to everything, which is a good length of time for us- long enough to get Ethan to calm down a bit, but not so long that he gets bored. The story itself is a good one and has a wonderful message about appreciating and being nice to our friends. The other really cool thing is that the book has a safe, nontoxic, glow-in-the-dark cover!
The CD also got a vote of approval from both Ethan and I. Even though Ethan's only 2 1/2, he's extremely particular about music and has definite opinions about what he likes to listen to. He really liked this CD and we've been playing it at bedtime and also at other points in the day. Unlike a lot of kids' music, I didn't find this at all annoying, so it's a hit with me too!
The great news is that one of you is going to get to win both the Sleepover Surprise book and the Close Your Eyes CD! US/Canadian mailing addresses only, please.
