Have chores to be done at your house? Check out My Job Chart!

I just found out about a very cool new free online tool for parents- My Job Chart. This site is pretty much what the name implies- it's an online chore chart that makes it easy for parents and kids to all be on the same page about what needs to be done around the house.

My Job Chart is a three-step process. First step- a parent logs into the site and assigns jobs to each child. Next, the kid/kids log on and see their list of chores. Then, when the child finishes each chore from the list, he or she logs in and marks it as done. The site then sends an email to the parent, letting them know that the child has finished their task.

But the site goes beyond just tracking a to-do list. When you assign chores, you can also assign a point value to the chore being done.  When your child finishes their chore, the site automatically tracks how many points your child has earned. You can also set a reward or rewards at the end of a certain number of points, so the child feels that they're working toward something concrete and he/she has a visual representation of their progress toward the goal. The parent can also leave notes for the child about the task- motivation, encouragement or just details!

I was very impressed at how easy it was to start a profile for My Job Chart, add family members and set up tasks. I know the site was designed for use with children, but I'm tempted to use this for my husband's to-do list as well! He does love technology, and maybe this would help him get things done without me having to nag him about them! Go visit the site and set up your own job chart- this is a great tool for moms!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post, but as thanks for my time spent writing it, MomSelect has entered me into a gift card drawing.
