Congrats to my winners: stroker881 and For Their Future
My household is a mainly dairy-free one. I gave up dairy when I was nursing Vivian, and with the exception of a few things, like yogurt, I've stayed on the dairy-free wagon. My husband, Daniel, also doesn't eat or drink much dairy, so we're always in search of good alternatives. In the past we've consumed a lot of soy milk, which we like, as well as lactose-free milk. But our new favorite is, by far, almond milk. This is something that I hadn't heard of until recently, but as soon as we tried it we were both total converts.
Our introduction to almond milk came through a review opportunity that I received through the Product Review Place, an opportunity to try Silk Pure Almond. Silk Pure Almond is really delicious almond milk that is available in two flavors- original and vanilla. Original has only 60 calories per serving, while Vanilla has 90 calories. I liked the taste of both of these- you can tell that the milk is made of almonds, but the taste isn't overwhelming, and it goes well with things like cereal or coffee. Since I'm watching my calories closely, the Original, lower-calorie option fits in best with my lifestyle, while Daniel prefers the Vanilla flavor.
Here's some more information on Silk PureAlmond that I received in a press release:
What makes almondmilk Silk Pure Almond so healthy? For starters, it’s the almonds. Every little nut is a perfectly packaged powerhouse of natural antioxidants and more. In fact, we like to think of almonds as Nature’s Perfect Nutrition – and that’s where our almondmilk begins. There's tons of other information about Silk PureAlmond available on their website. Almonds are recognized by health professionals as a nutritious addition to a healthy diet. A serving of almonds provides an excellent source of vitamin E (a natural antioxidant), and a good source of protein and fiber. In fact, almonds are higher in protein and fiber than any other tree nut. Plus, they're naturally low in saturated fat and cholesterol-free.
