Back in May my husband bought me a iTouch for Mother's Day and I have been somewhat of an addict to its powers and apps ever since. Lately I've been looking for apps to add to the iTouch to help keep my kids entertained on our VERY long plane trip next week. So I was very happy to learn about PicPocket Books. Here's some information about this company:
With PicPocket Books, we want to create an experience for toddlers, preschoolers, and early readers which maintains the qualities of traditional books while increasing the level of interest and the opportunity for learning - through interactivity, fun and play. Our titles include fairy tales, easy readers, non-fiction, books in Spanish, and more. We are adding titles every month and have an exciting new Halloween story coming out later this month. Stay tuned! And visit us at www.picpocketbooks.com to see our full selection, along with links to download the apps from the iTunes App Store.Just look at these great illustrations and pictures in the stories!
Once you've added the book to your iPhone or iTouch, your child can listen to a narrator read the story. For those learning to read words highlight as the text is read for easy follow-along. Page turning can be done by touching the screen, or also can happen automatically.
Sadly for me, my iTouch is a first generation and is not capable of running the operating system that these books require. That's a lesson for all of you- be sure to read the fine print on the iTunes page and make sure that your device is compatible! If you run iOS 4.0 or later on your device, you'll be able to enjoy these books. I think this is a good excuse to ask for a newer iTouch for my birthday :)
So, if you're looking for a new app for your iPhone/iTouch that will entertain and educate your child, check PicPocket Books out! Apps are affordable- ranging from 0.99 to 3.99.
