A few months back I wrote a review of What are the Odds?, the newest CD from Monkey Monkey Music. We're still listening to that CD- it's one of Ethan's first requests every time we get in the car! So we were happy to receive this DVD- we knew we liked Meredith LeVande's music, and we are always happy to learn more songs and dance along!
The videos on this DVD are for songs from the debut album from Meredith LeVande, called Monkey Monkey Music. The DVD runs 36 minutes long, with videos for 15 different songs. Some videos are animated, some feature kids dancing along, some are live action portrayals of the song. None of the videos or songs were annoying to me as an adult, which is very important, since I suspect we will be watching this DVD many times in the months to come. I thought the videos were fun, very well-made, and educational without being boring. And, best of all, unlike many other shows that my kids watch, this is one that gets them off the couch and up and moving!
Apparently I am not alone in loving this DVD- here's some information from a press release that I received:
Even before its official release, Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith Levande has been scoring kudos, winning both a 2010 NAPPA Honors Award and endorsement from Kids First: The Coalition for Quality Children’s Media. Four of the DVD’s episodes were broadcast as music videos this summer on Comcast’s Kidz Bop Preschool on Demand channel. Possessing a universal appeal, Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith Levande is already charming families in international markets as far away as Indonesia.Monkey Monkey Music: The Videos with Meredith LeVande will be available for purchase on December 1, but you can preorder a copy now at the Monkey Monkey Music site. You can also see a couple of the videos on the Monkey Monkey Music site and get a preview of what to expect on this great DVD! If there's a little one in your life, definitely check this DVD out!
Disclosure: I received a copy of this DVD to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
