I love shopping at HomeGoods. And by love, I mean really love. Thankfully, for the sake of our finances, the closest HomeGoods store is three hours away, down in Oregon. Fortunately for me though,we travel down to Oregon fairly often to visit relatives, and so I get to indulge in some HomeGoods shopping every few months.
For those of you who are new to Homegoods, it's the most glorious store, stuffed full of every home decor and gift item that you could ever want. When I first walk in the store, my eyes go wide at the sight of so many pretty things. Then I calm down, try to remember what I came to the store to purchase and start shopping.
This week I was shopping for nothing in particular, just looking to see what caught my eye. We loaded the kids into the shopping cart and started wandering through the aisles, stopping by all the nice Christmas decor and gifts, contemplating home organization and cookware, me drooling over kitchen towels (I have a strange obsession for pretty holiday kitchen towels), and finally ending up over in the children's section. My husband's attention was caught by the stepstools, since we're getting tired of lifting our son up to wash his hands. I browsed through the puzzles and books, and soon we met up with arms full of things that looked irresistable.
In the end, we settled on a few things that we've been talking about buying for a while- a cute, painted stepstool for the kids' bathroom ($16.99), a set of training chopsticks for Ethan ($2.50) and a bowl/plate/training chopsticks set for Vivian ($5.99). I've been pricing these training chopsticks elsewhere, and they've been at least $5, usually closer to $8 or $10 at stores that I found them at! So I was thrilled with these deals, and love the stool as well. I did go 48 cents over my $25 gift card, but I could handle that, given how many great things I got!
If you need an affordable gift idea or two, stop by the HomeGoods site for affordable and unique gift ideas. And definitely don't forget to drop by the BlogHer website and enter to win either a $100 gift card or one of 20 $25 gift cards that are being given away! Happy shopping!
Disclosure: I received a gift card, thanks to BlogHer and HomeGoods, so that I could have the opportunity to find an affordable, wonderful gift. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
