Congrats to my winner: dvice12
I'm going to cut right to the chase here- if you have kids, you need this book! And I say that as a person who, honestly, isn't a big believer in parenting/child care books. The Portable Pediatrician is amazing- it covers pretty much anything child development/health-related that you could possibly want or need to know. Here's a bit about the book, from its website:
Encyclopedic in scope, THE PORTABLE PEDIATRICIAN features timely and practical information on every childhood illness and emergency, including when to call the doctor, what reassuring signs can help you know your child is okay, how to treat your child at home, and much more-all in a convenient A-to-Z format. Among the scores of topics covered:I wish I'd had this book a long time ago, it would have been a wonderful resource for knowing what to expect at my kids' check-ups and have an idea of what questions to ask and issues to bring up. The Portable Pediatrician is written by 5 members of the Sears family- all doctors or nurses, so they know what they're talking about.
teething; sprains and broken bones; nosebleeds; measles; ear infections; choking; rashes; colic; headaches; eating disorders; fever; hip pain; warts; allergies; obesity; seizures; Asperger's Syndrome; bronchitis; sunburns; pneumonia; speech delay; lice; vomiting; asthma; heart defects; blisters; sleep problems; and more.
The Searses guide parents and caregivers from a child's infancy through the teen years, teaching them what to expect at regular checkups as well as how to boost a child's well-being, devise a family health plan, work effectively with their pediatrician, and more.
The book is laid out in a really easy-to-follow format, so it's simple to find just what you're looking for. There is a lot of information in this book, but it's presented in a great way, so it's not overwhelming. I was very impressed by the number of different topics that are covered. My son has a newly named/described sensory disorder that a lot of books don't address, but even that was included in this book. You can browse the book a bit for yourself at the widget below.
And I have good news! One of you will win a copy of this fabulous book! Open to US/Canadian mailing addresses. Please note that there is a one copy per household rule, so if you win this book on another giveaway, you will not be eligible to win here.
