Okay- so what did I think of Gnomeo & Juliet? Loved it! Ethan and I had a chance to attend a (very packed!) screening for Gnomeo & Juliet this past Saturday. Ethan's never sat through a full-length movie in the theater before, so I was a little nervous about how he'd do. I needn't have worried- the movie kept his attention the whole time. He even wore his 3D glasses for the whole thing!
In case you missed my earlier post, here's the general plot of Gnomeo & Juliet:
The movie is full of hidden Shakespeare references, funny jokes, crazy situations, cute garden gnomes and hysterical sidekicks. I laughed out loud SO many times. I thought the movie was a brilliant take on an old story. And I also thought the Elton John songs were just perfect and tied everything together perfectly. If you're looking for a good family movie to attend, this should definitely go to the top of your list. Gnomeo & Juliet opens everywhere in 3D on February 11!The greatest love story ever told, starring...garden gnomes? In the upcoming “Gnomeo & Juliet,” Shakespeare's revered tale gets a comical, off-the-wall makeover. Directed by Kelly Asbury (“Shrek 2”) and showcasing both classic and original songs by Elton John, the film features the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt as Gnomeo and Juliet, who have as many obstacles to overcome as their quasi namesakes when they are caught up in a feud between neighbors. But with plastic pink flamingos and thrilling lawnmower races in the mix, can this young couple find lasting happiness?
Disclosure: I attended a screening of this movie as a guest of Walt Disney Studios. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
