Review (giveaway coming soon!): chicBuds chicBoom Keychain Speaker

As a general rule, I don't like to have the TV on much during the daytime, because if it is turned on, my kids seem to magically appear in the room and sit in front of it.  So, for entertainment and to keep sane, I listen to my iPod. A lot. Until recently, I always wore headphones while listening to my iPod... then I received a chicBuds chicBoom Keychain Speaker to review! Here's a bit about this fun product, from the chicBuds website:

When you want a break from your chicBuds earphones, grab your chicBoom Keychain Speaker to get the party started! This portable speaker is decked out in a stylish leopard print and outlined by sparkling crystals in the shape of a heart. It’s not only stylish, but also small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and it’s attached to a key ring for easy transportability. This small accessory has a big sound with a 2 watt amplified speaker that gives out four hours of quality sound. With the built-in rechargeable battery, you just plug them into your computer to charge and you’re ready to go!

I was a little skeptical when I opened the package- the speaker is so little, and I didn't think it could possibly do a very good job with my music and podcasts. Happily, I was very wrong! The sound on this little device is really good, and it is loud enough to be heard at a fairly large distance. We've used the speaker on both the iPod and when watching TV shows on our netbook.  In both situations the sound was good and we could hear clearly.  I love that this little speaker is so portable- it just clips onto your keychain and you'll have sound whenever you need it! And, best of all, since the speaker is covered in crystals and animal print, there's no worry about my husband running off with it and keeping it for himself, as he is wont to do with my electronic devices :)

I will be hosting a giveaway on November 1, 2011- one lucky reader (US only) will win the blue chicBuds chicBoom speaker pictured above.  So stay tuned for that!

Disclosure: I received a speaker to review for myself and one to give away here on the blog. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
