Review: The Zhip

Sometimes it's the simple things that excite us most- and that's definitely true for a new product that showed up in our home last week- the Zhip! Funny name, great product. The Zhip is a smartphone/iPod holder that can be used in a variety of configurations, depending on your need. Here's a bit about it, from some information that I received:

  • The Zhip uses a sturdy, "no-drop," three-foot extendable zip cord to easily mount any smartphone, iPod Touch or other handheld device practically anywhere
  • It  features special retractable, "scratch-free" grip handles with protective padding that attach tightly around a device to safeguard and secure even the most expensive device
  • The unit is light-weight and compact (it measures 27/8" x 13/8" x 3/4") and fits in almost any pocket
  • The Zhip comes equipped with a built-in desktop stand, and is comprised of 100% Polycarbonate "bullet-proof" material for extra stability and sturdiness.
  • The Zhip carries an affordable $14.95 MSRP price point and is available through and at - and also online at and
Most of the time when I'm listening to my iPod at home, I'm using my Bluetooth headset, so don't actually have my iPod in hand (or pocket). Frequently this results in me losing it under a pile on my counter, or my iPod being grabbed by little hands.  With the Zhip I can set my iPod up on the stand so that I can see it, or even hang it from my kitchen cupboards.  This is also great for when I'm cooking and am using a recipe that I found online- no more risk of getting food on my iPod- I can just hang it up on the cupboard and easily look at it!

There are so many other places to use the Zhip- you can attach it to a treadmill or an airplane seat back or even a car's headrest so that you can watch shows on your phone/iPod while you travel or work out.  You can also attach it to a stroller to entertain your kids while you're out and about. Daniel and I both thought that the Zhip was easy to use, and that it holds our iPods very safely and securely, even when hanging up. And when it's not in use, the Zhip folds up and can be stored in a small space. This is a very handy little device!

The Zhip would be a great stocking stuffer or small holiday gift. And right now, Zhip is offering a coupon code, so you can get this great item for $9.95 (regularly $14.95). Follow the instructions below to use the code!
  • Although the Zhip is available at multiple online stores, the discount code can only be used at
  • The code will reduce the price from $14.95 to $9.95.
  • Discount code valid until November 20th, 2011.
  • When purchasing, buyers should enter the discount code in the "Gift Certificate" box on the third page of the "Shopping Cart" and THEY WILL NEED TO HIT THE "ADD" BUTTON to activate the discount.
