As a college student he spent 16 days in the Pacific Ocean with five guys and a crate of canned meat. As a father he took his kids on a world tour to eat ice cream with heads of state. He made friends in Uganda, and they liked him so much he became the Ugandan consul. He pursued his wife for three years before she agreed to date him. His grades weren't good enough to get into law school, so he sat on a bench outside the Dean’s office for seven days until they finally let him enroll. That description gives you a glimpse of what you're in for when you start reading Love Does. Mr. Goff's energy and enthusiasm for life radiates off of each page. The thing that I especially like about this book is that it isn't a just story of great successes and doing amazing things, although there is a bit of that. Rather it's a book about messy and crazy situations and how God has used those and the wonderful things that came out of them. It's the story of a man who doesn't sit around and contemplate how to change things in the world, but rather gets on a plane and goes to fix them.
Bob Goff has become something of a legend, and his friends consider him the world's best-kept secret. Those same friends have long insisted he write a book. What follows are paradigm shifts, musings, and stories from one of the world’s most delightfully engaging and winsome people. What fuels his impact? Love. But it's not the kind of love that stops at thought and feelings. Bob's love takes action. Bob believes Love Does.
When Love Does, life gets interesting. Each day turns into a hilarious, whimsical, meaningful chance that makes faith simple and real. Each chapter is a story that forms a book, a life. And this is one life you don't want to miss.
Love Does is a really easy and fast read, but it's stuffed full of great stories from Mr. Goff's life and the lives of some of his closest friends. My husband doesn't really read books (fortunately I read enough for both of us!) but I told him that this is a book that he really needs to read.
If you're looking for a book that will uplift you and motivate you and leave a big smile on your face, definitely check out Love Does. You won't be sorry.
