Book review: Forest Tales

I recently received a new children's book to review, one called Forest Tales. Here's a bit about this book:

Returning with the whimsy and charm of her previous children’s collections, Once Upon A Time Tales and Rabbit Tales, Aggie shares five stories of friendship and adventure. In this imaginative world, crocodiles are best friends and woodland creatures rescue entire neighborhoods. A princess runs finds herself living with a herd of wild horses and a little pet mouse learns courage when he’s left unexpectedly on his own. And a little boy bravely faces his fears when his little brother vanishes into a dark old mansion where a mysterious vampire lives.
Each of these stories is filled with the fantasy children love and packed with twists and turns. And each leads to an exciting ending with a special lesson – that friendship is the most important treasure.
The author of these short stories writes in a lovely, descriptive manner.  She paints pictures with her words and brings the animals, people and places in her stories to life.  I enjoyed reading these stories and escaping into another world for a brief time.  My kids didn't have the attention span to sit through the stories- I think it would be a good book for kids around 8-12 years old. Even though they didn't want to listen to all the stories, my kids did enjoy looking at the illustrations that are spaced out through the book.
