DVD and CD review: Little Pim- Foreign Languages for Kids!

When we visit our local library (which we do a lot!), I usually let my kids pick out a DVD to check out.  They often gravitate to the typical kid cartoons, but fairly frequently they end up at the non-fiction section. Vivian especially loves this section because she adores pandas. Which means she loves Little Pim DVDs! And since they're educational and expose my kids to foreign languages, I love Little Pim too! So we were happy to get the chance to review a Little Pim DVD and CD.  Here's a bit about Little Pim, from the Little Pim website.
Little Pim is an award-winning foreign language learning series for young children.

Our series makes language learning easy, fun and effective.
Little Pim features our unique Entertainment Immersion Method®, which combines animation and real kids to teach simple words and phrases for everyday activities.
Little Pim is available in 10 different languages, and includes videos, apps, music, books, flash cards and more.

We received a Spanish language CD and DVD to review. The CD is called Little Pim: Spanish Bop, and it has 15 kids' songs in Spanish. The songs are fun and high-energy, and I've enjoyed having this CD on during playtime. The kids are hearing something educational and don't even know it-  they just think they're listening to fun music! I especially like that the CD includes a booklet with the full lyrics in Spanish and English, so I can understand what I'm hearing and point out particular words to the kids.

The DVD that we received is called Wake Up Smiling and it's Disc 2 in the Little Pim Spanish series.  It covers vocabulary related to getting up in the morning and getting ready for the day, as well as going to bed at the end of the day.  It can be played with Spanish or English subtitles, if you want to have those on. My kids love watching the panda and other kids on the DVD and think it's really fun to watch!

Little Pim products are also available in French, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, German, Hebrew, English (with English or Spanish subtitles), Japanese, Arabic and Russian. Lots of languages to expose your kids to!

Little Pim now also is available in digital format, for your tablet and smartphone. Here's the scoop on that!
With back to school just a few short weeks away, Little Pim has now made their award-winning language learning program available digitally.  Sold in Spanish, French, Chinese, English/ESL and the newly added Brazilian Portuguese, the 35-minute episodes can be easily downloaded digitally for tablets and smartphones available through the Little Pim website:

Little Pim is now also available digitally on LeapFrog.  "Eating and Drinking " and “Wake Up Smiling” have just been released through LeapFrog's video app center in Spanish, French and English/ESL, and Chinese Mandarin, German and Italian apps for "Eating and Drinking" will be available on August 14th. The third video app, “Playtime” teaches another 60 words and phrases around the wonders of play, from blocks to boats, and will be available as of Sept. 18th.

Each episode is theme based and can be introduced in any order.  These video apps teach young children more than 60 words and phrases for morning and evening routines such as waking up, getting dressed and brushing teeth.
So, whether you're looking for some entertaining music, a fun DVD or a new app for your tablet or smartphone, you can get something that's fun and educational too! Visit Little Pim's website for much more information on all that Little Pim has to offer!
