Movie review: Escape from Planet Earth

A week or so back, my family and some friends had the opportunity to attend a screening of Escape from Planet Earth. Here's a bit about this new movie, from its website:

Astronaut Scorch Supernova is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy, by-the-rules brother, Gary, head of mission control at BASA. When BASA's no-nonsense chief Lena informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet, Scorch rejects Gary's warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a fiendish trap set by the evil Shanker it's up to scrawny, risk-adverse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his beloved wife Kira and their adventure hungry son Kip.

My movie watching group included my husband, my kids (ages 5 and 3), and our friend with her daughter (age 4).   And we all greatly enjoyed the movie- I think my husband was the biggest fan of all! The adults in the group especially were amused by the comments from the spaceship console (voiced by Ricky Gervais), while the kids enjoyed all of the aliens and technology.  I thought the story was enjoyable and had a good message about appreciating your friends and family members.  All in all, we really liked Escape from Planet Earth and recommend it as a fun movie for the whole family to enjoy.

Disclosure: We received tickets to see this movie. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.
