Book review- Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures

A few weeks ago I got an email about reviewing a new book.  Pretty typical, except this time, I could see only part of the book's title in my email preview. What I could see said "Parenting:" and I crossed my fingers and hoped that the rest of the title would read "Illustrated with Crappy Pictures". And to my joy, it did! I've been a fan for a while now of Amber Dusick's blog of the same name, and even before I got the book, I suspected I would love it.  What I didn't expect was that reading the book would cause me bodily harm.  Before I get into that though, here's a bit about the book, from the Crappy Pictures website:

Of course you love being a parent. But sometimes, it just sucks. I know. I’m Amber Dusick and I started my blog Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures because I needed a place to vent about the funny (and frustrating) day-to-day things that happened to me as a parent. Turns out, poop is hilarious! At least when you’re not the one wiping it up.
This book won’t make your frustrating moments any less crappy. But these stories about my Crappy Baby, Crappy Boy and my husband, Crappy Papa, will hopefully make you laugh. Because you’re not alone. And sometimes the crappiest moments make the best memories. Parenting is wonderful! And also, well, you know.
I made the mistake of opening Parenting and starting to read it while I was lying on the couch in our living room, sick with a cough and a runny nose.  Might I suggest NOT reading a humor book while you have a cough?  I kept laughing and coughing and thinking that I should put down the book, but then I just wanted to read one more page and then I would read that one more page and laugh and go into another coughing fit.  And I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting and nearly coughing up my lungs in the process. Occasionally I would also feel the need to read something especially funny to my husband, which also triggered coughing.  So this book almost killed me but it was SO worth it.  And as a side note, laughing hard and coughing are excellent ways to exercise your ab muscles, so that's a bonus!

What I loved about this book is the same thing that I love about Amber's blog.  It's funny and makes you laugh about life with kids and it's a great way to poke fun at parenting and the crazy things that happen, but you can tell that Amber wouldn't trade her life for anything. Humor and love both radiate from her blog, and now from this book as well. Get this book. It'll make you laugh and smile and feel like you're not alone on this insane ride through life with kids. Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures will be available March 26, but you can pre-order now!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book to review for myself.  I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

Oh thank you! Yours is the very first review to go up. I feel like you should win a prize. But not a lame prize like a temporary tattoo or one of those plastic pieces of junk from a coin machine. More like a really important virtual First Reviewer Prize of Awesomeness. There, I just gave it to you. No seriously, thanks for the review & glad you enjoyed the book despite the coughing.

Individuals in the Tattoos business imply them as tats, work, ink or here In experimental terms, tattooing is truly micro-color implantation.
