Weekend fun in the sun in Wenatchee, WA

This past weekend my family headed over the mountains to a town that I'd only visited briefly in the past, Wenatchee, WA. Wenatchee boasts that it has 300 days of sunshine, which is a definite selling point to anyone currently living through a dreary Seattle winter.  And it's only about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Seattle, even though the landscape changes so dramatically that it's hard to belief you're in the same state!

We were hosted on this trip by the Coast Wenatchee Center Hotel, so that I could check out the hotel and share what I found on Trekaroo.  You can read my full review here, but the basics of what we thought came down to- we really liked it! It was in a good location for walking around Wenatchee and checking out the sights, and was a comfortable and clean place to stay.

Having not spent time in Wenatchee before, I wasn't sure what we would get up to.  For skiiers, there's a ski resort called Mission Ridge, which is located just about 20 minutes outside of town. But my husband hasn't skiied in years and the rest of us never have, so we decided to stick to town.

We ended up not driving between the time we arrived on Friday night and the time we left on Sunday afternoon. Lots to do near the hotel! We wandered through the nice little Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center, and enjoyed learning more about this part of the state. We wandered through Riverfront Park and soaked up sunshine and views of the river. We ate every 30 minutes or so, with delicious meals at Inna's Cuisine and McGlinn's Public House, seriously yummy cupcakes at Cupcake Blues, and a chocolate egg cream and ice cream at the Owl Soda Fountain. And I sampled 8 different local wines and learned more about Wenatchee and the local wineries at the Wenatchee Visitors Bureau.

There was even more that we could have done in Wenatchee, but unfortunately one of my kids was fighting a cold and ran out of energy, so we enjoyed relaxing in the hotel with some cable TV, time at the pool, and nice bubble baths.

All in all, we found Wenatchee to be a fun, convenient weekend getaway and I'm glad we had the opportunity to check it out!

Thanks to Coast Hotels for hosting our hotel stay,  so that I could review the hotel for Trekaroo.  All other activities and food were at our own expense and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone!
