DVD review: This is America, Charlie Brown

*Disclosure: I received a copy of this DVD to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

My son, Ethan, loves many things.  But two of the things he loves the most are Snoopy and the United States.  He is extremely patriotic and actually gets annoyed with us when we mention the fact that he has dual citizenship with another country as well.  He's all about the United States! So it was a happy day when he got a new DVD featuring his favorite Snoopy and friends doing stories all about US history called This is America, Charlie Brown. Here's a bit about this DVD, from a press release that I received:

From the voyage of the Mayflower to the bold exploration of outer space, join the Peanuts gang as they take viewers on a journey through American history! Groove along with Charlie Brown and Snoopy as they discover the beginnings of jazz and ragtime music, cleverly accompanied by Lucy’s speech about American heroes. Soar with the Wright brothers, blast into orbit on the NASA space station, and create some of the world’s most influential inventions alongside such greats as Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford! So all aboard the transcontinental railroad with Peanuts because This is America, Charlie Brown!
There are 8 episodes in this 2-disc set.  Topics include the Mayflower, the Constitution, the Wright Brothers, the NASA Space Station, the Transcontinental Railroad, Great Inventors, the Smithsonian and the Presidency and music and heroes of America.  Altogether, there are 195 minutes worth of shows! My kids both were totally enthralled with these shows and when they finished one episode immediately asked to watch another. I'm a huge American history buff myself, so I love the fact that they are picking up the bug! What a fun way to introduce kids to learning about their country's history.

This DVD set is available for purchase now at various retailers.
