Book review: The Angry Little Puffin

*Disclosure: I received a copy of this book to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

My kids are both learning to read and are kind of stuck on the beginning levels, which means the books that they bring home from school are pretty boring.  To help keep them engaged with reading, I've been trying to find fun books for me to read to them after they've done their reading homework.  This week we got a great new book that made reading time lots of fun- The Angry Little Puffin. Here's a bit about it, from the publisher's website:

“Look at the funny little penguin!” and “What a silly-looking penguin!” Hearing this all day long is enough to make any little bird angry, especially when he’s NOT A PENGUIN! This is the story of a puffin who is upset that he’s constantly mistaken for a penguin. He finally reaches his breaking point and goes on a rant about the many differences between the two. A little girl stops him in mid-speech because she does know the differences, and he listens as she explains to her father why puffins are her favorite.
The illustrations in this book are really fantastic. Very colorful and entertaining. And the book is very educational- I now know much more about puffins! My daughter does keep getting the name of the book wrong and referring to the puffin as a penguin, which would not make the puffin in this story very happy! All in all, this is a cute and fun little book that the kids and I all really enjoy.

That does sound like a fun book. My granddaughter would love to have this read to her. Good review.
