Book review: Love Monster and the Perfect Present

*Disclosure: I received this book to review for myself. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

We seem to spend a lot of time on homework lately, and most of that time is spent working on the kids' reading homework.  To be honest, the books at their current reading levels are excruciatingly dull, but they need to keep working on repetition and learning the basics, so there we are. Fortunately, when they are done reading, it's my turn and we can read some fun books! This week we had an adorable one waiting for us at the end of homework time. It's called Love Monster and the Perfect Present, and it's just darling.

Love Monster lives in Cutesville, where they celebrate Present Day once per year. As a big fan of receiving presents, I love the idea of Present Day, but I'd have to celebrate it more than once a year! In this book, Love Monster is worried about what to get his Perfect Monster, who is his "bestest" friend.  He goes through the shops and looks and looks, but nothing is quite right.

My kids really enjoyed sitting and looking at the pictures in this book while I read the story. It's a simple book, but it has a great message and is the type of book that makes you smile. We all thought it was really great. I hope for more Love Monster books to cross our path in the future!
