My husband, Daniel, is a pretty hard core bicyclist. Last summer he biked 200 miles to Portland and this summer did about the same distance north to Vancouver, BC. He also bikes to and from work every day. During the summer, I don't worry too much about him being on the road, but in the winter it gets dark fairly early in Seattle and I want him to do everything that he possibly can to stay visible to cars. In addition to his lights and reflectors, he now has another great tool to help him be seen, Zackees Turn Signal Gloves. Here's a bit about these, from a press release that I received:
Helping bike commuters to increase their visual communication and stay safe is the main goal of Zackees Inc. - makers of the Turn Signal Gloves - now on sale online. It’s a cool, even amazing product.Created by a Google Engineer, these Turn Signal Gloves are one of the best ways to increase your visibility and communicate your turning intentions to other vehicles on the road.Zackees™ Turn Signal Gloves™ features an ambient lights sensor which boosts visibility during the day and extends battery life at night.
The glove design has comfortable leather palms, an absorbent towel around the thumb for sweat, and retro-reflective trim to give a sleek racing style. With a built in ambient light sensor, which boosts the LED’s eight times brighter than standard LED’s, cyclists have an additional flash during their commute. The entire glove is machine washable after removing the batteries.
These gloves are a great choice for anyone who rides a bicycle, and they'd make a great gift for the upcoming holiday season! Happy biking!
