I have been a voracious reader since I was about 4 years old. I just love books and the way they can educate us and introduce us to new people and places and teach us about history. Reading books about different periods of time is one of my favorite things to do. I also really love visiting museums and seeing artifacts from different times and places. I recently received a new book that combines these two loves, and that I think would make a great gift for the museum or history lover in your life. It's called Historium, and here's a bit about it, from the publisher's website:
When I opened this book at sat down with it at my dining room table (it's a large book, you'll want to be sitting somewhere that you can spread it out), I was immediately drawn in by its beautiful pictures, details about the items and information about the people to which the items belonged. Each section has a lovely introduction about the people and how, when and where they lived their lives. I've been learning a lot! Honestly, until I looked at the back of the book today and saw that it is recommended for kids 8-12 years old, I had no idea that this was considered to be a book for kids! It would definitely be a good way to introduce kids to the idea of archaeology and different civilizations, but it's a fun book for older history loves as well! I highly recommend it.
