This past Monday night, my family had the great opportunity to attend an early screening of Disney's newest movie- Moana! In case you haven't heard about this new movie, here's a bit about it, from the movie's website:
An adventurous teenager sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
I absolutely loved this movie. The animation is gorgeous and the island scenery made me want to immediately book a trip to the nearest Pacific island for some sun and water. And the story and the characters are really charming and entertaining. I liked how many funny spots were interspersed with the serious elements of the story, so there was always comic relief and laughter waiting around the corner. I also really liked that the parents in this movie, unlike in many Disney movies, managed to stay alive throughout the whole movie! Moana is a great main character, with lots of bravery and willingness to take on challenges to help her family and her island. I will happily watch this movie many more times with my kids, and you should as well! It's a great movie for the whole family to enjoy!
